Automatically send your video responses from VideoAsk to Google Drive using Make (formerly Integromat) and make life a little simpler.
We recommend setting up this workflow before sharing your videoask with your respondents. If you set up this automation after receiving responses, previously received responses wonât be sent across to Google Drive.
Itâs only possible to send one video per videoask response with this automation. You can use this flow with a multi step videoask but itâll only send one video from one step in your videoask. Instructions in this article cover sending video responses from an Open-ended answer type and not sending responses from other answer types like multiple choice or file upload.
đĄ Tip: If you're looking to download video responses that you've already received, you can easily download the .mp4 files of any of your video responses from within your videoask inbox.
To get started, hereâs what youâll need:
- A VideoAsk account
- A Google Drive account
- A Make account
Note: Free plans are available for all these tools.
Looking to use Zapier instead? Check out our article on how to send your video responses to Google Drive or Dropbox with Zapier.
â ď¸ Important: Make sure the videoask youâd like to use in this workflow is in your organization. If the videoask lives in an organization youâve joined, ask the organization's owner to move the videoask to your organization.
From your Make account, click Create a new scenario.
Give your scenario a name in the top left-hand corner.
đĄTip: Click the save icon in Make to save your work at any time.
Click the + sign in the center of the page.
Select VideoAsk from the dropdown menu (you can type it in the search bar, no need to scroll).
Select Watch Form Response.
Click Add. If this is your first time connecting VideoAsk with Make, youâll be prompted to log in to your VideoAsk account.
Click the dropdown in the Form ID field and select the videoask youâd like to connect (you can also search by videoask name in the search bar).
Click Save.
Click OK.
Now we need to do a test run of our videoask to submit some test data to Make. In Make, click Run once in the bottom left-hand corner.
Now head over to your videoask and answer it like youâre a respondent. If you have conditional logic set up, make sure to choose the flow where you can submit a video response.
Note: We havenât finished setting up this flow yet so it wonât yet work. We just need to send some test data to Make before continuing. đ
You should see something like this appear in the Make log:
Click the + sign to Add another module.
Select Add another module.
Select HTTP from the dropdown menu (you can type it in the search bar, no need to scroll).
Select Get a file.
Click in the URL field for the dropdown menu and click the arrow toggle for Answers[ ].
Select media_url.
In the URL field, between 1. Contact.Answers[
and ]: media_url
enter the step number where respondents record a video response.Â
In our example, respondents record a video in the second step of the videoask flow, so weâll enter the number 2 in the URL field.
Click OK.
Click the + sign to Add another module.
Select Add another module.
Select Google Drive from the dropdown menu (you can type it in the search bar, no need to scroll).
Select Upload a File.

Click the dropdown in the New File Name field and select how youâd like to name the video file.
In our example, weâll select Name from the contact form in the videoask.
Click OK.
Then click Run once.
Now weâll check if everything is working as expected. Head over to your videoask and answer it like youâre a respondent. If you have conditional logic set up, make sure to choose a flow where you can answer the step where respondents record a video.
Check in your Google Drive folder for the video file.
And thatâs it! Toggle the Scheduling button to On in the bottom left-hand corner.
Every time someone records a video response, the video file will be sent over to Google Drive.
